Alan Turner Bell, the author of Duke and the Nukes, holds an M.A. in English Literature from New York University. He has lived in Boston, New York City, Los Angeles and Miami, and has written scientific technical manuals for fortune 500 companies. He owned an agency in Los Angeles for fashion models and actresses and was also the director of an art gallery in Scottsdale, Arizona.
In one of his many career incarnations in this lifetime, Mr. Bell taught Creative Writing and English at a private boarding school in Arizona. He was known as the poet 'Sons of X' on Russell Simmons' online poetry forum called Def Jam Poetry.
He says he writes from his subconscious - "Each sentence burst forth like a volcano from my subconscious, each chapter created its own self while the story lead me like a blind man on an unknown journey. It was a literary hurricane I couldn’t control or know its final path. I was only the messenger".
He also says he based his unconventional characters in this scriptment on people he has met and known in Los Angeles, New York City and South Beach FL, where he currently resides. He observed the Z generation in all of its glory and chaos and has given them a unique voice in Duke and the Nukes.
In L.A. he hosted a weekly Hollywood model search party at the Studio at Club Spice located then on Hollywood Boulevard. He then moved from L.A. to Miami Beach where he continued photographing models and actors and later started brokering the sales of private jet airplanes, meeting even more fascinating characters from tycoons to the wealthy members of royal houses around the world.
"I was a captive" Mr. Bell says "of my experiences and observations". He brings his distinctive vision and insight to Duke and the Nukes.
